Chart Numbers: The Significance of J. Cole & Mac Miller’s Sophomore Album Sales

J+ColeThe July 18, 2013 releases were pretty epic; their sales impacts were felt heavily on the Billboard Albums Chart.  To recap, we know that Kanye West topped the charts for a sixth time with Yeezusmoving 327,000 copies.  J. Cole didn’t disappoint, landing at number two with 297,000 copies of Born Sinner sold. Mac Millerwas always thought to be in third place in a competitive race of hip-hop juggernauts, but he did pretty well for himself with 102,000 copies sold of Watching Movies With The Sound Off.  It was a good week. And guess what? Wale’s got next, with early estimations suggesting the ‘gifted’ MC could sell 150,000 copies, which should secure a number one bow.  Erykah Badu once said “it’s bigger than religion, hip hop…” among other things… :-/
